England’s Waterways is one of Visit England’s Discover England projects. The project has three core aims - product development, market development and economic impact using the waterways as the hook to increase the volume and value of visits.
The project has offered the opportunity to grow and develop some new and exciting products across the region, strengthening and expanding its visitor offer and accessibility.
The West Midland Growth Company, with invaluable contribution, leads this project in partnership with destinations and organisations from across the region.
The WMGC’s focus is to align with local tourism partners to grow numbers and revenue across both leisure and business segments, in order to develop and maximise the direct and indirect economic contribution of the tourism sector.
Shakespeare’s England is the official destination management organisation for Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Kenilworth, Royal Leamington Spa and the surrounding towns and villages.
Worcester City Council are the local council responsible for encouraging and increasing tourism to the area.
Discover Telford (Part of Telford and Wrekin Council) are responsible for encouraging and increasing tourism to the area.
The Canal & River Trust not only look after our waterways, but they also promote them widely to people who have waterways on their doorstep, so that more people benefit from this free, accessible and local source of well being.
Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council are the local councils working in partnership to develop and increase tourism to the area.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland plays a unique role in building England’s tourism product, raising Britain’s profile worldwide, increasing the volume and value of tourism exports and developing England and Britain’s visitor economy.
